Be safe and always perform an allergy test before using any new hair product. As a matter of fact, all major manufacturer companies do advise in their instruction to do it. Surprisingly, many consumers do not even bother to read all the fine print. Way too often, you get so excited once the new hair color dye arrives that all the caution is thrown out of the window. Everything is quickly set up and ready to dye the hair.
Only afterward, you might become aware that something is seriously wrong. The scalp starts to itch and red pimples start to appear all over. It can be life-threatening when an unknown allergy against some of the ingredients exist. Very recently, a report out of France came on the media to show what exactly can happen if a person has a hair dye allergy.

The goal is to eliminate all threats for a possible allergy reaction. No worries, everyone can follow some very basic rules to be safe:
1) BUY TRUSTED & WELL-KNOWN BRANDS ONLY
Trusted brands like Wella, Schwarzkopf, or Loreal stand for quality and do follow strict local rules. From time to time, it can happen that you might like to try a color shade that comes from overseas. Make sure that they are FDA or GMP approved. A Manufacturer who owns these certifications must comply with very strict rules which are checked by inspectors on a regular.
This cautious approach will not prevent allergies, but it will definitely prevent the use of unapproved ingredients on yourself.
SYMPTOMS OF POSSIBLE ALLERGY REACTION
In case you do notice any of the following symptoms, you might have an allergy against the hair product. It is very important to seek medical advise and do a proper allergy patch test (see photo) by a professional dermatologist to find out against what chemical you are allergic to. This will give you the opportunity to choose wisely when buying safe hair products.

STEP BY STEP OF HOW TO AN HAIR DYE ALLERGY TEST
Do not use in any circumstances any chemical hair products like color dye, perms, or straightening creams if you have already experienced some symptoms in the past, your scalp/hair is very sensitive, or if the hair is damaged and weak.
Remove all ear rings, jewelry around your neck and fingers.
Open the hair product tubes (Peroxide Hydrogen & color cream) in order to apply a little bit onto your skin
Using a cotton ball stick, apply a small amount of the not mixed hair product onto the skin behind one of the ears. The area where the sample is going to be applied should not exceed the size of 1 cm.
Apply the samples 2-3 times on the skin, so that the product can properly dry.
Close all the hair dye tubes carefully and leave the area alone for 48 hours. DO NOT: touch, wash or cover this area to avoid contamination of the final result.
In case you do experience any symptoms of itching, redness, blisters or swelling DO NOT APPLY THE PRODUCT!
Please remember to always stay safe when using any kind of hair product. It is much wiser to be cautious as to rush things that you later might regret.
